Cell Analysis (DRAFT)
At any given frequency there is an equation that links the dielectrophoretic force to the electrophysiology of a cell. If we have a way of measuring the dielectrophoretic force (conveniently we do! – the 3DEP) then we can calculate electrophysiology.
At its simplest this includes:
- Whole Cell Conductance
- Whole Cell Capacitance
- Cytoplasmic Conductivity
- Cytoplasmic Permittivity
More advanced modelling can allow for extraction of other dielectric/surface properties or subcellular properties. In conjunction with drug assays and other laboratory techniques DEP can be used to explore more advanced biological properties, see existing literature here.
